The DSM is a manual of diagnostic and statistical information regarding mental health for use by social workers, clinicians etc. It has always been a kind of bizarre reflection of or time, like when being a homosexual was in there as a mental disorder, or drinking too much coffee.

Now, they (some doctors) want to draw a hard line to define the difference between grief and depression during the time right after a loved one dies. Doctors were previously discouraged from making a diagnosis during this period citing the bereavement exclusuion (if you just had some crazy stuff happen to you, feel how ever you want for a while).

Nothing remains undefined, floating in choas for too long in our culture, it’s simply too frightening.

Wal-Mart is starting a program to include RFID

(Radio Frequency Identification) tags on all their clothes that cannot be turned off. Critics are worried about privacy. Even though the tags can be removed like any security tags, there is concern that high tech marketers and criminals will start scanning garbage. Now, instead of tediously looking through bank statements and cut up credit cards to learn that you’re broke, criminals can scan your garbage, see that you shop at Wal-Mart, and move on, identity secured!
